Dolly Parton Sets the Record Straight on Supporting Hillary Clinton & Says Political Race Could “Use More Boobs”

Dolly Parton’s recent comments about supporting a woman in the White House were misinterpreted by news organizations around the world and spread on social media like wildfire.

In an interview with The New York Times, Dolly was asked how she felt about a female presidential nominee. Her response to that question: “Well, I think that that would be wonderful. Hillary might make as good a president as anybody ever has. I think no matter if it’s Hillary or Donald Trump, we’re gonna be plagued with PMS either way—presidential mood swings! But I personally think a woman would do a great job. I think Hillary’s very qualified. So if she gets it, I’ll certainly be behind her.”

No where in her answer does Dolly endorse Hillary for president. She simply says that if Hillary gets the job, she will be behind her. But isn’t that what we’re all supposed to do, get behind our President of these United States? Apparently many media outlets took her comments out of context and ran the story that Dolly, 70, has endorsed Hillary Clinton. Dolly, on the other hand, didn’t see it that way and took matters into her own hands to set the record straight.

“This morning while I was watching the news I saw many reports that I had endorsed Hillary Clinton,” Dolly says in a statement. “My comment about supporting a woman in the White House was taken out of context. I have not endorsed Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump. I try not to get political but if I am, I might as well just run myself ’cause I’ve got the hair for it, it’s huge, and they could always use more boobs in the race. But seriously, I have not decided who I’m voting for, but no matter what we’re gonna be suffering from PMS, Presidential Mood Swings.”

And with that, we say . . . Dolly for President!

Dolly will get to put this all behind her when she begins the second leg of her Pure & Simple Tour on July 19 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
