Taylor Swift recorded parts of her 2006 self-titled debut album at Dark Horse Estate in Franklin, Tennessee, located 25 minutes from downtown Nashville. The estate owner, Robin Crow, recalls that when Swift was recording there, he had no idea she was destined for superstardom. “At the time, I think I met her once or twice in the couple of weeks that she was recording here, and I never gave it a second thought,” says Crow. “And now, she’s the biggest artist in the world.” The estate features a 14,000-square-foot mansion called “The Manor” that can accommodate up to 18 guests and houses three private recording studios where musicians like Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Kings of Leon, and Shawn Mendes have worked. But the stunning location doesn’t necessarily equal success. “I’ve seen record companies throw so much money behind an artist and nothing will happen,” Crow notes, adding, “Then you have another situation like Taylor Swift, and it’s just magic and everything kind of lines up.” (People)
